Diego Martinez - US Navy Veteran
Bio: Born and raised in Alamosa Colorado, Diego Martinez, is a 16th generation resident of the San Luis Valley. Diego developed a love for the outdoors at an early age. At five years old Diego began hunting and fishing with his father. Summers consisted of camping with family throughout Southern Colorado. Upon graduation from high school, Diego enlisted in the US Navy. Diego graduated US Navy Dive School and deployed twice onboard the USS Bataan to the Mediterranean, Red Sea, and Persian Gulf area of operations. Diego also helped provide humanitarian relief after the earthquakes/tsunamis hit Haiti. After the service Diego returned home to Alamosa, CO to use the GI Bill at Adams State University, where he earned his bachelor’s degree in business finance. Diego then completed the rigorous application/interview process to become a Financial Institution Specialist with the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC). Required to move to Albuquerque, NM, Diego spent the next five years examining banks throughout the State of New Mexico. After five years of traveling Diego wanted to return home to the San Luis Valley. Diego now works as the chief executive at local water and sanitation district. Diego also serves on the Board of several non-profits and remains committed to community service and helping fellow veterans live the best life possible.
