Dewane Mosher - US Army Veteran

Dewane's journey of service began in 1989 when he joined the U.S. Army, dedicating 20 years to the nation's defense before retiring from active duty in 2009. He bravely completed three tours in Iraq, one tour in Korea, and one tour in Haiti, stationed at various bases including Fort Dix, NJ, Fort Benning (Fort Moore), GA, Camp Hovey, Korea, and Fort Carson, CO. Transitioning to civilian life, Dewane embarked on a new chapter in the San Luis Valley in 2011, where he pursued higher education at Adams State College. In 2014, he earned a Bachelor of Science in wildlife biology, laying the foundation for his career. Currently, Dewane serves as the biologist at the Great Sand Dunes National Park and Preserve near Mosca, CO, building on his previous experience with the USFWS at the Monte Vista National Wildlife Refuge. At the heart of Dewane's life is his loving wife, Amanda, and their four wonderful children: Jacob, Audrey, Milan, and Genna. They are the pillars of strength and joy in his life, providing unwavering support throughout his journey. Dewane's dedication to his fellow veterans runs deep. Having witnessed the struggles many veterans face post-service, he is driven to make a difference. He believes in the power of camaraderie among veterans and the healing benefits of outdoor activities, advocating for both as essential components of veterans' mental and physical well-being. Through his continued service and advocacy, Dewane is committed to ensuring that his brothers and sisters in arms receive the support and care they deserve.
