Craig Rauwolf - US Army Veteran
Bio: Craig Rauwolf is a dedicated professional with an 8-year background in the US Army, serving as a combat MP with two deployments to Iraq and one deployment to the Philippines. Later in his career, he served as a sniper for the US Army Hawaii Special Reactions Team, specializing in marksmanship, concealment, and tactical operations. Craig is currently the driving force behind the SSG FOX Suicide Prevention Grant at Valley-Wide Health here in the San Luis Valley. With a personal journey overcoming complex PTSD, depression, and suicidal thoughts, Craig channels the power of faith, family, and a profound connection to the outdoors in helping veterans navigate their challenges. Craig's faith serves as a guiding force in his life, and he firmly attributes his healing to the grace of God. His faith fuels his determination and provides him with hope and gratitude as he navigates his personal journey and works to make a difference in the lives of others. Additionally, Craig finds his strength and joy in his family, including his wife Kim and their three children, Damion, Khiaya, and Junior. They serve as sources of love, support, and inspiration, motivating Craig to continue his meaningful work with dedication and compassion. As the Executive Director of Valley Veterans ReCreation, Craig passionately leads initiatives that utilize camaraderie and outdoor recreation to enhance the well-being of our nation's heroes. Through this commitment, Craig envisions creating a community where veterans not only find solace but can thrive in their community. The SSG FOX Suicide Prevention Grant provides Craig with a unique opportunity to actively seek and connect veterans with essential resources, aiding them in overcoming stressors and preventing the path to suicide. Craig is also a Veteran Service Officer with the American Legion and an active participant in several veterans' organization. As a Mission 22 alumnus, he continues to serve as an ambassador, reflecting his dedication to supporting veterans and raising awareness about the mental health challenges they face.
